3D2N Mulu National Park - The show caves

Mulu National Park is only accessible via Air Borneo flight from Kuching, Miri or Kota Kinabalu. Flights are not included in the tour price, so please check that flights are running on your preferred dates and route by visiting Air Borneo before you book. Return airport transfers from Mulu airport are included.

For safety reasons, flights to and from Mulu are occasionally delayed or cancelled due to bad weather. If Air Borneo cancels your flight due to weather, you will need to pay for any additional accommodation expenses incurred.

The package includes accommodation within Mulu National Park. Guests opting for a private room are accommodated in one of the following air-conditioned rooms: Rainforest Lodge with 1 king or 2 single beds, Garden Bungalow with 1 king and 1 single bed, or Family Longhouse with 4 or 5 super single beds per room. Dorm beds are also available in a simple fan-cooled mixed dormitory.

Yes. Guests looking for a little more luxury, or simply the chance to swim between cave tours, can request an upgrade to the 5-star Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, a few minutes' drive from the park entrance, where every room has luxury bedding and a private balcony. The upgrade fee starts from RM200 per person per night, and high season surcharges may apply at the Marriott during periods of peak occupancy. Please tell us at the time of booking if you would like to upgrade.

This trip is suitable for physically active visitors of all ages, except the optional canopy walk which is restricted to visitors aged 7 and above. Access to Deer and Lang's cave is via a 3km boardwalk from Park HQ, with around 8km walked in total that day on flat terrain. Access to Wind and Clearwater caves is by boat followed by a fairly steep 200 step staircase.

Not guaranteed, but you have a very good chance. The caves are home to 12 recorded species of bat, including 2.5 to 3.5 million wrinkle-lipped bats, and on most days they leave between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. On some days they do not leave at all and you may need to return the following evening to try again (free of charge), such is nature.

You can add a night walk at RM60 per person, the canopy walk at RM70 per person, or the Fast Lane cave, which departs at 2pm, at RM90 per person. Slots for the canopy walk are very limited and require advance booking, so please tell us at the time of booking if you would like to join. There are also free self-guided options such as the botanical trail, the tree top tower for birdwatching, the Paku Loop trek and the Paku Waterfall trek.

Mulu is a very small place with no supermarkets, pharmacies or ATMs, so bring all the medication you need and some cash; there is a small convenience store for trekking snacks and a basic clinic for medical emergencies. For all cave visits wear non-slip closed footwear such as trainers or hiking shoes, and pack a torch with spare batteries, a water bottle, a raincoat, snacks and insect repellent. The price includes accommodation at Mulu Park HQ, 2 breakfasts and 1 packed lunch, park entry and conservation fees, longboat transfers to and from Clearwater and Wind caves, return Mulu airport transfers and a registered Mulu guide; flights, optional activities, beverages and guide tips are not included.
